Om Namah Shivaya

Om Namah Shivaya

It means "I bow to Shiva." Shiva is the supreme reality, the inner Self. It is the name given to consciousness that dwells in all. Shiva is the name of your true identity- your self.

According to Hindu faith there are three Gods who run this creation. The Brahma -who creates the universe, the Vishnu - who preserves the Universe and the Shiva- who in the end destroys the universe. Among the three deities, Shiva, though considered as destroyer, also symbolize the - the inner self which remains intact even after everything ends.

In this mantra the chanter (one who repeats the mantra) bow to Shiva- his true self.

Om Namah Shivay is a very powerful mantra. It has been said about this mantra that if this mantra vibrates continually in your heart, then you have no need to perform austerities, to meditate, or to practise yoga. To repeat this mantra you need no rituals or ceremonies, nor must you repeat it at an auspicious time or in a particular place." This mantra is free of all restrictions. It can be repeated by anyone, young or old, rich or poor and no matter what state a person is in, it will purify him.

Weight Gain Prevention

More Americans than ever are losing their battles with weight loss as the number of obese men and women in America has doubled in the past 30 years. Nearly 60% of Americans are overweight or obese today. If you are struggling to keep your stomach from overlapping your belt then here are a few pointers for you. Listening to all the weight loss methods and messages out there can confuse you and make you forget about the very important basics to keeping your weight down.

Causes For Weight Gain

It is very easy this day and age to fall into alot of habbits that can contribute to your dreaded weight gain. Below are few of many reasons why so many Americans are becoming overweight:

  • Consuming 300 more calories per day then 20 years ago.
  • We are eating out alot more than normal.
  • Eating larger sized portions of their meals.
  • Think that low fat foods are good and can eat as much as they want.
  • And the big reason, not enough excerise.

Many people that try to keep their weight down do so by only eating low fat foods. However, many low fat foods have more calories than the normal food. Be sure to read the labels on foods, although fat matters calories count.

    Weight Gain Prevention

Physical activity is a factor too, about a third of Americans do not get enough physical excercise. Instead we spend most of our time sitting at our computers, watching TV, driving instead of walking, taking the elevator instead of the stairs, or taking any other kind of short cut that allow us to work less. It is recommended that you get 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day such as a brisk walk or a bike ride.

By sticking with the above basics weight loss and maintenance can be achieved by adding a few simple minor changes to your lifestyle. There are no quick fixes or magic methods. Losing weight and keeping the pounds off does not come easy for many people. The idea of eating less and moving more should be the common approach.

    Dust to dust

Dubai - 13 July 2007 - By Matt Jones (Matt finish).

NOW THAT the congestion on Shaikh Zayed Road has been dealt with by the Salik toll system, please could someone do something about my sinuses. They're like the backstreets of Barsha during the evening rush hour - blocked solid.

I reckon there's enough building material lodged in them to top off Burj Dubai. The problem is the dust in the air. It's so thick Britain's Sunday Times said in a recent property feature about Dubai that it's "like breathing muesli"....

... Other ways to stay positive in traffic jams include singing well known songs with local place names inserted into the lyrics. For example, the other day, to put us in a holiday mood, Mrs Matt Finish and I came up with a Dubai version of The Beach Boys' Kokomo: "Al Wasl, Jumeirah, ooh I wanna take you to BurJu-man, Karama, come on pretty mama..."

Talking of mama, I must go. I've got to call her back.

    The Sari Saga

    Dubai - 13 July 2007 - By Shashi Tharoor.

EARLY IN 2007 I found myself unwittingly caught up in a row over sexism (mine) and feminism (others'). It all began with a casual observation in one of my columns, prompted by my last few visits to my homeland: whatever became of the sari? ……….

Saris may well be a hassle to wear, and less convenient to get around in, but those are points I had already conceded. What they are, though, is special - and to my relief a handful of Indian women wrote to say they agreed with me.

Shreyasi Deb sent me a blog post in which she declared that "I know that the ultimate weapon in my kitty is the saree ... This Sunday I have taken down my Ikat, Chanderi, Puneri, Laheriya, Bandhej, Bomkai, Gadwal, Narayanpet, Maheshwari, Kantha and Kanjeevaram sarees and stroked them in the reflecting sunlight." (I guarantee no man would ever think of doing anything similar with his dhoti collection.)

And Sindhu Sheth wrote that she would heed my appeal: "I have decided to wear a sari (instead of my regular churidar-kurta) - once a week, to begin with." In that "to begin with" lies the hope that my original appeal will not have been entirely in vain....

Our advisor, Prathap G., in Sharjah, vouches that his wife looks more beautiful when clad in a sari…. Librahitech.

    New Seven Wonders

Sharjah, 10 July 2007 - Jubilation as Taj Mahal is among new Seven Wonders.

An icon of love, the Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India. The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned it for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Its construction began in 1632 and was completed in approximately 1648.

Built out of white marble and standing in formally laid-out walled gardens, the Taj Mahal is regarded as the most perfect jewel of Muslim art in India.

As soon as Bollywood star Bipasha Basu exclaimed "Oh my god, it's the Taj Mahal!" in Lisbon, millions of eager Indians who had been glued to their TV sets in the early hours on Sunday, 8 July, 2007, watching the function jumped in joy as the 17th century monument of love was selected among a list of new Seven Wonders of the World.

There was much hugging and "congratulations", bursting of firecrackers and distribution of sweets after the Taj was named at a star-studded function in Benfica Stadium, Lisbon, Portugal. It was attended by several celebrities including actors Ben Kingsley and Hilary Swank.

The seven wonders list was compiled through a global poll participated in by at least 100 million votes casted through Internet, telephone and SMS campaign.

Apart from the Taj Mahal, the others are, the Great Wall of China, Brazil's Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Peru's Machu Picchu Inca trail, Mexico's Chichen Itza pyramid, Jordan's Petra archaeological site and the Colosseum in Rome were declared as winners.

A private body called the New7Wonders Foundation carried out the global campaign. Initially, the campaign, which started in 1999, included 77 monuments from around the globe and was then shortened to 21 in January 2006. The final list of seven wonders was declared based on the popular vote received.

The seven wonders declared late on Saturday night beat 14 others renowned landmarks including Eiffel Tower of France, the Statue of Liberty of the US and the Acropolis of Greece and Sydney Opera House, Australia.

We at Librahitech are proud of the icon of love, the Taj Mahal, in Agra, India.
